It brings smiles to our faces whenever we complete a project related to education or the arts. More so if it is
geared towards children. Having recently done one for a dance competition, this time, we were pleased to see a
project for another art form: music.
We approached Tom Kopyto, the founder of
Tom Kopyto Music
to learn more about them and the details behind their fun looking custom folders.
FOLDERPRINTERS WRITERS: Please
describe your company and it’s services or specialty.
TOM KOPYTO: Tom Kopyto Music teaches in person and online private and group music lessons (drum lessons, guitar
lessons, piano lessons, voice lessons) for kids, children, teens and adults.
FPW: Who are your main customers?
TK: Our customers are recreational music students that have found a place for music making in their busy lives.
We teach all ages from 7 to 70 and skill levels from beginner to professional.
FPW: What makes you stand out or
differentiates you from your competition (if you have any)?
TK: Our teaching method is based on over 30 years of full-time teaching experience. We get our students playing
music as quickly as possible because we know that that is what our students want to do. We teach and perform
music that our students love to play: classic rock, pop, alternative rock, metal, modern rock, jazz, musical
theater. Our instructors are experienced & college educated professional musicians that can instruct
students on the finer points of the technique & theory of their instrument, while at the same time educating
them on “real world” performance.
FPW: Are folders in any way a part
of it? If so, what purpose do your folders generally serve?
TK:We give our folders to our students to help them manage their lesson materials and organize their assignments
for at home practice. The folders also serve double duty as marketing tools with our logo and socials
prominently featured.
"The folders contribute to a sense of identity as a music student, it makes the process 'real'."
— Tom Kopyto
FPW: When do you hand them out?
TK: Folders are handed out the first or second lesson. Replacements are issued when folders are lost or worn
out.
FPW: What items do you put inside
the pockets?
TK: Lesson materials go inside the pockets. Photocopies, handwritten lesson notes and music, etc.
FPW: In this digital, internet age, why use analog presentation folders?
TK: Students enjoy having something physical to take with them, especially the younger students. The folders
contribute to a sense of identity as a music student, it makes the process “real”.
FPW: Who designs your folders?
TK: Me! The folder concept and design is done by myself, in house. I know how I want to present Tom Kopyto Music
to customers and it’s easier for me to accomplish that goal without having to work through a middleman.
FPW: Are these your first professionally printed folders? What made you decide to go with Folderprinters?
TK: We’ve had simpler folders in the past with a more traditional look and theme. When we decided to move
towards a more “fun” feel and theme in our presentation, we also did research for a reputable company to work
with. Folderprinters ticked the boxes of pricing, speed of order fulfillment and quality.
FPW: What was your aesthetic philosophy or aim in coming up with the final design.
TK: I wanted to convey the family friendly and fun atmosphere of Tom Kopyto Music.
FPW: Do you know if your competition also employ the same type of folders?
TK: Our competition uses similar folders, but the presentation isn’t as fun as ours!

FPW: If not, had you been working with a printer, and what made you switch to Folderprinters?
TK: We had used a few local, brick and mortar print shops. Unfortunately, the design process was a bit
antiquated and inefficient, pricing wasn’t that great and production was slow.
FPW: Did you look at other folder sellers’ websites? What made you choose us?
TK: Folderprinters ticked the boxes of pricing, speed of order fulfillment and quality.
FPW: What was your experience using the website? Was it easy to use?
TK: Couldn’t have been easier. Any questions I had regarding uploading my image files were easily answered on
the website.
FPW: Did the final product meet your expectations?
TK: Very much so. Tom Kopyto Music is a very satisfied and repeat customer.
Studies have shown that students who play a musical instrument
do better in English, math, and science. Music lessons can also
promote better mental health. We believe that Tom Kopto music, whether they
realize it or not, contributes in their own way to these positive outcomes.
As a
leading national manufacturer custom presentation
folders, completing these types of projects makes us feel — if only vicariously — that we are also part
fo the solution.
